“I was selected here, the first pick overall, and that’s a pretty big honor. A lot comes with that. The team has been great to me. Everyone has treated me like family. I owe it to the team, to the fans and everyone who’s a part of this organization to give it my all.
“They have given me a lot of responsibility, they have put a lot of time into helping me be who I am. So I would love to be a part of turning it around. I think it would be great to make the Islanders once again a powerhouse. It’s a great challenge.”
